Success Comes From Failing

I have read a lot of great quotes via twitter and even an old school email lately. :)

Here are a few great thoughts:

“Many people dream of success. To me success can only be achieved through repeated failure and introspection. In fact, success represents the 1 percent of your work which results only from the 99 percent that is called failure.” - Soichiro Honda (founder of Honda Motors)

@shaneadkisson: “Failure is an event not a person. Take heart–yesterday ended last night.”

@markbatterson: “many people feel like a failure simply because they have never defined success.”

Michael Jordan’s Nike Commercial on Failure (misssed 9,000 shots, lost almost 300 games, missed 26 game-winning shots, etc.):

Rather than ask, in what ways have we succeeded lately, we should ask: “In what ways have we tried and failed lately?”

Any good examples?

The problem is how success and failure are being defined. Many see Jeremiah’s ministry as a failure because no one responded to his message, and it might even be possible to say that he may have felt like a failure. However, by God’s standards he was a great success.

Success and failure should not be defined by outcome (a worldly perspective) but on faithfulness (a biblical perspective).
