I just returned from a great time in Dallas/Forth Worth, TX. Having spent 6th-12th grade in this part of the world and having family still living the area, I was excited to spend the weekend there.
I spent Sat. night with Debbie’s parents. We enjoyed great conversation as well as Chick-Fil-A, watching youtube videos, and watching the Texas Rangers come back to win against the Oakland A’s. I even got to see the progress on the new Cowboys Stadium.
On Sunday, I had the opportunity to speak at Mosaic Arlington. Stephen Hammond and their community were so warm and embracing with a real heart to serve their city. It was a real privilege to be with them. In the evening, Stephen, along with three others were comissioned (3 as elders, 1 as a pastor). These men and their families seemed to be truly wonderful people. Meeting people whose lives had been touched and transformed by God through this community and hearing about the plans for starting other churches made me that much more excited for the future of Mosaic Arlington.
In the afternoon, I spent the afternoon with the core team from Fusion. Travis Matheny is the lead pastor and my brother-in-law. Lori (my wife’s sister and Travis’ wife) hooked us up with cookies and vanilla cream soda. These guys are going to be doing some great things. They begin meeting publicly on May 6th at the Movie Tavern in Bedford, TX.
Pray for these new communities as they seek to love and serve people!
It was great to have you with us in Arlington, guy. It’s truly encouraging to see the things God is doing.
