A Weekend in L.A.

What a great weekend with the family! Some weekends end up getting interrupted a bit, but this one was filled with fun.

On Friday, we began our day with breakfast at The Dish in La Canada. After breakfast we surveyed the fire damage at Griffith Park. (I had awakened on earlier in the week to find ash all over our cars. We’re about a 15 minute drive from this beautiful urban park. Fortunately none of our favorite parts were destroyed such as the Carousel, Train and Pony Ride, or the many parks we enjoy) The fire fighters did a remarkable job! Even still, it was sad to see all of the acres of hiking trails destroyed.

In the evening we watched the Dodgers defeat the Reds. We had fantastic seats followed by the fireworks show (they let us all sit on the outfield grass)! Caleb was excited to find his friend from school, Andrew. Just as I was explaining to him that we would never find Andrew in the crowd of 50,000 people, Caleb noticed Andrew two rows in front of us!

Saturday included the Women’s Brunch for Debbie and her friends while I took Trevi to her ballet class and then Caleb to his baseball game. Caleb’s team lost again (they have not won once in 9 attempts). After the game we had a bbq with the entire Marlins team and their families. Somehow I ended up in charge of cooking the Carne Asada. Even still, it was delicious!

On Sunday we enjoyed the gathering at Mosaic and then lunch at a new Mexican Restaurant in Alhambra called Fronteras. The evening was filled with the sounds of great bands at the first ever Awaken Humanity Music Festival at the Mayan. All of the extra proceeds will go towards some of our humanitarian efforts in Zambia and Los Angeles.

After so much fun, I need a few days off to rest! 🙂
