Hope for the Yankees?

With another “epic” battle this weekend between the Yankees and Red Sox and Roger Clemens on the verge or returning, the Yankees still need help.

As a Dodgers, Mariners, and Rangers fan (in that order), I have never rooted for the Yankees. In fact, since they pay their players so much more than the rest of all of baseball I root against them!

Even still, I offer this advice in kindness: they should look no further than my friend Gar for help. Check out his amazing talent with the bat here.

TB on a Plane – The Story of Andrew Speaker

Andrew Speaker just wanted to enjoy his honeymoon. Sure he had a drug resistant form of tuberculosis, a potentially deadly disease. He has since apologized for putting the lives of others at risk flying to Europe and back with his new bride. He felt fine. Some doctors didn’t seem too concerned. He shared his apology to Diane Sawyer as he wore a protective mask. (His wife seems to be a very pretty and intelligent woman, at least as far as I can tell from the picture of her wearing a protective mask)

Actually, I really can relate. I got on a plane for my honeymoon infected with chicken pox. We went to Laguna Beach, Big Bear, Hollywood, and even Disneyland. Sure, I may have infected hundreds of kids at the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but it was my honeymoon (and it wasn’t a deadly disease, just extremely uncomfortable). To hear more of this true story, watch this. (The chicken pox on my wedding day begins about 3 minutes into the stand up routine).

Seriously though, so far no one has been found to have caught TB from Andrew. Let’s hope that continues to be the case. Ironically, Andrew’s father-in-law is a microbiologist specializing in the spread of TB.

As far as I know, I haven’t heard of anyone at our wedding, on my flights, or in L.A. who caught chicken pox (other than the kids whose parents sent them over to me on purpose during the wedding reception).
