Len Sweet spent the day with our team at Mosaic on Monday. He has written some great books which include:

The Gospel According to Starbucks: Living with a Grande Passion

Quantum Spirituality (click here for a free e-book version)

Soul Tsunami: Sink or Swim in New Millennium Culture

It was really a great conversation. Here are some of the highlights:

APC was an old drug which ended up ruining people’s kidneys.
An anaology, if the church keeps using A.P.C. then our churches will die. (Attractional, Propositional, and Colonial)

Instead, we should move to an M.R.I. approach, moving churches to become Missional, Relational, and Incarnational

William Tyndale translated the Bible from Greek into English. What did he get? Pulitzer prize? Fame? Actually, for his efforts he was killed. We aren’t connecting more to the world because we don’t have enough martyrs.

Mao Tse Tung – revolution isn’t a dinner party. Jesus’ revolution is. “Eat freely” – Genesis. “Drink freely” – Revelation.

Contextual intelligence – knowing the times and knowing what to do

Leadership won’t be discussed in 20 years. Even with so many leadership books, there is a crisis of leadership in the church. The issue in the church is actually following!

A mainline denomination spent $80 million on a television advertising campaign which has yielded very little response. How much more effective would it have been to have helped fund Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ?! Mel Gibson was looking everywhere without luck for quite awhile to find someone to help fund his film for $24 million. The investment had an incredible return on it as his movie has become the most successful R rated film of all time (and now Mel Gibson owns an island in the South Pacific).

Wow. Pretty profound comment after I read it a second time and let it sink in…
