In L.A., we have two chances to celebrate a new year – Jan. 1st and then again at Chinese New Year a few weeks later. I like it since it gives me another chance to start over with my new year’s resolutions!
At Kindergarten, Trevi had a parade wearing her bright colors and walking around the school as part of the dragon. She learned to sing “Frère Jacques” in Mandarin (the new version is called “Gon Hay Fot Choy”) and insisted on eating noodles for dinner. She also told us that this is the year of the Rat (my year).
Even as we walked Emma (our new puppy) around the neighborhood, our neighbors were quick to wish us a “Happy New Year!”
This is a big year for China with the Olympics in Beijing and of course the upcoming Jack Black flick Kung Fu Panda. Happy New Year!
