I discovered a sad fact: the porn industry has had an increase in revenue as a result of the government’s stimulus checks.
Pornography is a rampant and destructive problem with all sorts of hoffiric implications such as breaking up relationships, destroying trustworthiness, fostering abuse towards women, and even contributing towards human trafficking among other things.
Through some of our support groups and small groups at Mosaic, we have seen some remarkable transformations for guys struggling with addiction. This past week, Kim McManus shared a powerful message (listen here) on the subject and brought up a couple who shared their story.
A powerful spiritual truth Jesus shared which has been a guiding force in my life has been: “The pure in heart will see God.”
Thanks for passing along that message!
I recently wrote a blog post about Proverbs 7 about pornography addiction: http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2008/07/04/six-reasons-why-guys-like-porn/
Thanks for blogging about this important issue. It’s a subject I am passionate about. I work for a ministry called Covenant Eyes that helps individuals and churches avoid the lure of Internet porn. We have developed a unique accountability program for the computer that helps people stay accountable to one another about their Internet use.
Have you ever heard of accountability software? Accountability software is specifically for adults who want to guard where they go online without any blocking or filtering.
I’m curious if you or your church would be interested in partnering with us to fight the temptation of Internet pornography in people’s lives. I’d love to give you more information about our ministry.
Thanks again for this post!

This is a really good session from Kim, and especially courageous from the couple that she introduced to give their very recent testimony. A lot of Churches would have “edged” these people out through shame/gossip etc but Mosaic has really supported them and turned something that was destructive into a story of hope and forgiveness through process healing.
This is a subject that needs to be talked about more often than not in and out of Churches.
Keep Up the Good Work
Porn is a growing problem. More and more porn is targeting the younger generations and all of this is just to have money. Fore those who are struggling with porn there are programs out there to help. There are places on line, like candeocan.com, as well as places off line such as your clergy man, or counseling. Don’t give up the fight.
This is an issue that I have been dealing with our youth. As my old youth pastor used to say about sexual temptation in general, “It looks all nice like a chocolate pie on the outside but it has razor blades inside” It absolutely destroys us as men and especially degrades the women. As men we are called to protect others and when it comes to sexual purity, we must guard it like a hawk.
We need to be ourselves walking in victory or else it will seem impossible to other guys. Most guys think this issue is something they cannot overcome and as Christians we have a very big victim mentality towards it. But when other men see that there are men who are walking in consistent victory, they will think it is possible and step up to the plate.
God gives us the strength but it is on us to use it or to succumb to it. I pray we unswervingly stand for what’s right.

The silent killer that many try to avoid. Especially those with Spiritual beliefs. Their are many great resources out there for those struggle with this issue. A great site with great resources is http://www.xxxchurch.com, they have also developed an accountability software that can be downloaded from the site.
