“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'” – Matthew 18:19-20
When we choose to follow Jesus, He invites us to invest in others. We have more to do than simply experience personal transformation. We are invited to mentor others and help them experience a new life as well.
How have you effectively done this? Or how have you seen others pull this off well?
One day when I was reading this scripture it dawned on mr that Jesus said to disciple before baptizing. We mostly do the opposite: convert people to faith which is usually when they’re baptized, then begin discipling. Maybe Jesus always meant for us to be discipling as we go, as we walk with people, before they are truly converted, teaching in word and example what and who Jesus is and their discipling culminates with their conversion (baptism). Helping people belong before the believe puts them in the vicinity of relationship through which mentoring/discpling happens naturally!
