True Life Appeared…

1 John 1:1-3

1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

God offers us more than simply His teachings.  He offers us life – genuine life beyond what we could imagine.

What keeps us from experiencing the abundant life Jesus offers?

How can we avoid settling for far less and experience this full life?

The biggest thing for me has to be the constant fight with worldliness. I can’t say it any better than this quote from Tullian Tchividjian: “worldliness is a sleepiness of the soul in which the status, pleasures, comforts, and cares of the world appear solid, stunning, and affecting while the truths of Scripture become abstract – unable to grip the heart or guide our everyday activities.”

To avoid that I need to regard God’s voice as food. And be desperate for that above all else.
