Our Crowded House event this past month focused on trusting God with our finances. You can watch the video of Rick Schurt’z talk here.
Here are some of the notes from the message:
See Ecclesiastes 10:19
What do we do with this statement? Always look at the context and interpret Scripture with Scripture.
According to Jesus in Matthew 6:24: “We cannot serve both God and money.”
Another way to understand Eccl. 10:19 is to realize that all endeavors involve a budget even the good things in life. ex. an orphanage, art, etc.. Name your cause, mission, etc. and funding is necessary.
According to Luke 4:18-19, Jesus was a freedom fighter and liberator! This is also the role of the Church.
In a world in which 1 in 10 people are living without food and 3,900 kids die daily due to waterborne diseases. There are a lot of needs we could meet when we work together. This is the power of lots of people giving together and serving together. We can accomplish more together than we can on our own.
What keeps us from being generous?
When has someone been generous to you?
How can we demonstrate generosity this week with someone?
