So excited for my brother who was recently named the University Chaplain and Vice President of Spiritual Development at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX!
Here are some of the details from the ETBU press release:
“East Texas Baptist University President Dr. Dub Oliver announced that Dr. Scott E. Bryant of Waco has been named the new University Chaplain and Vice President for Spiritual Development. Dr. Bryant comes to ETBU from Baylor University where he has been a faculty member in the Religion Department and Honors College, as well as an adjunct professor at George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
‘We are thrilled that the Lord has led Scott to us and us to him,’ said Dr. Oliver. ‘He has a great combination of pastoral ministry gifts, administrative skills, educational experience, and Christian character. Scott clearly understands that caring for the soul of a student is critical to the success of the student, and he will help us continue and deepen our commitment to the Christian spiritual formation of our students.’
ETBU Professor of Religion Dr. Warren Johnson and member of the search committee said, ‘We were looking for someone with a strong theological foundation who is committed to our Baptist heritage, is able to relate well to students, who can serve as a resource for faculty members as we seek to integrate our faith with our academic disciplines, and who can provide leadership throughout the ETBU community as both chaplain and vice president. This was a challenging task, but Scott Bryant is that person and we are pleased to have him join us at East Texas Baptist University.’
‘During my time with the search committee and while on campus, it became clear that the faculty, staff, and students are united in their desire to grow closer to God,’ said Dr. Bryant. ‘God is clearly already at work in the lives of the students, faculty, and staff at ETBU, and I look forward to being part of a campus community that is intentional about growing closer to God and serving others.'”
Appreciate your prayers for Scott and his family as they move in the next few weeks!
