Celebrating the Past, Looking Forward to the Future

journalsSomething remarkable happened today. I found my journals!

After our move from Los Angeles to Austin in Dec. 2010, we were not able to find the briefcase which held all of my journals from the age of 15 to 35. We looked through every box multiple times. We called the moving company. Still no journals.

After finally coming to peace with the fact I may never see the journals again (and hoping no one else ever did), I shared what I felt like I learned in the process. We should never allow the past to haunt our present and ruin our future.

I couldn’t help but think that maybe God allowed this to happen to remind me that the best is yet to come. The best parts of my story have not yet been written!

I told the story at Gateway on Dec. 30th here and wrote about the loss here.

Today while looking for a book in our storage shed, I opened a box and discovered the journals! It seems like such a miracle!

I honestly cannot explain how we missed them over the past two years!

Ironically, today is the day after Debbie and I celebrated 19 years of marriage, a great day celebrating the past and looking forward to the future.

Now if only we could find that briefcase! 🙂
