A Passion For You (Good Friday)

How do you think the word “passion” is defined in Webster’s dictionary?

Love? Desire?
The number one definition of the word “passion” in Webster’s dictionary* is the following:
“The sufferings and crucifixion of Jesus Christ”
Today marks the day we celebrate Jesus’ passion for us and for our world – the day he gave everything for us.
Hebrews 12:1-2 says:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Let’s celebrate the fact that Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before him. What was that joy? I think it was knowing we could experience a relationship with Him. We could experience His peace and love and grace. We are His joy.
Celebrate today.
Renew your commitment today.
Pray for breakthrough in the lives of family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors as  you invite them to Good Friday, Easter Egg Hunts, or Easter Sunday.
*I first heard this from Erwin McManus at Mosaic in Los Angeles.
