At Gateway Church in Austin, John Burke led us through a series called What’s After Life? We had a remarkable increase in attendance just as we did several years ago when we did the series as Imagine Heaven.
John takes the approach that appeals to a skeptic. His personal journey towards faith began with reading an account of near death experiences in a book his father had on the nightstand while he was dying of cancer.
Here’s what is remarkable: One out of 25 people in America has had a near-death experience. Their heart stopped beating, their brain waves ceased, yet they claim they were more alive than ever. With improved medical resuscitation, more and more verifiable evidence indicates that life doesn’t end with our last breath— it’s just beginning. So, what really happens after death?
If we’re willing to consider what the Bible says, and now what modern medical evidence says, you’ll discover this life does not end, it’s just the beginning to the real story and the real life more exhilarating than anything we’ve imagined.
John wrote the best selling Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God’s Promises, and the Exhilarating Future That Awaits You and a follow up booklet called What’s After Life?
Our church gave awayWhat’s After Life? to friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors and invited them to our series. To those who came on a Sunday and filled out a Connect Card, we gave them a copy of Imagine Heaven.

Discussion Group Videos:
One aspect of our outreach efforts included starting online groups to watch and discuss videos that are about 10-15 minutes. Some not quite ready for a Sunday service were willing to come to one of these online groups. Others came to connect with a small group fo the first time. Others came because they were fascinated by the topic.
