Following Jesus means He is our highest priority. All other parts of our lives flow from that level of surrender and devotion. We are willing to die to self every day.
Ironically, if you learn to become more like Jesus you will be a more loving, devoted, and selfless family member, friend, and neighbor.

Message Notes:
Luke 9 begins with the disciples on a road trip traveling in pairs doing what they had seen Jesus do. They proclaimed the kingdom of God and healed people.
Jesus takes them for some time to debrief but it’s interrupted by a crowd of over 5000 people. Jesus turns his attention to the crowd and miraculously feeds all of them with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. In the end there are 12 baskets leftover!
Peter declared he is the Messiah and a few of them got to see the Kingdom of God as Jesus was transfigured into what He looks like in the spiritual realm.
Even still Jesus has to help the disciples see things clearly.
They didn’t understand he came to suffer and die for the sins of the world.
They didn’t understand that the faith of a child is greater in the New Kingdom than an adult who has worldly power.
They didn’t understand the level of faith required to heal someone.
They didn’t understand what it meant to truly follow Jesus.
Following Jesus means He is our highest priority. All other parts of our lives flow from that level of surrender and devotion. We are willing to die to self every day.
Ironically, if you learn to become more like Jesus you will be a more loving, devoted, and selfless family member, friend, and person.
