Luke 12 – Do You Worry Too Much?

We have no reason to fear or worry in this life because God will provide for us much like he cares for the lilies of the field and birds of the air. Our money and resources are gifts from God.

We are invited to trust Him with what we’ve been given – being rich with God and generous with others rather than selfish with our money.

Message Notes:

Jesus once again warns about the hypocrisy of the religious leaders before reminding his disciples not to fear people but to only fear God who cares for us. The worst thing a human can do is kill us, but God determines our eternal destination. This life is not all there is, there is so much more beyond this life!

In fact, we have no reason to fear or worry in this life because God will provide for us much like he cares for the lilies of the field and birds of the air.

Our money and resources are gifts from God. We are invited to trust Him with what we’ve been given – being rich with God and generous with others rather than selfish with our money.

Jesus warns that there will be a time when following Him might mean persecution from our family members or even the authorities. We are to stand strong in our faith by continuing to acknowledge Him. He warns against rejecting the Spirit of God as the Spirit is the one that brings us into relationship with God.

A summarizing verse for all Jesus is sharing is “But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.”

(‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

In a time when 80% of society was enslaved, Jesus uses an analogy of a master and his servant. He’s not advocating for slavery but speaking in a way those listening would understand. We are to have a level of urgency in the way we serve God, the One who provides for us and cares for us and invites us into relationship with Him.
