2 Corinthians 5 – Are You Willing to Help Others Reconcile with God?

Paul discusses the hope and assurance that believers have in Jesus. He starts by expressing his desire for believers to look forward to the future, where we will have new bodies and be with the Lord in eternity. He explains that while we are in our earthly bodies, we long to be with God in our heavenly home, free from the limitations and struggles of this world.

Paul emphasizes that our faith in Christ gives us confidence that when we leave our earthly bodies, we will be in the presence of the Lord. This assurance is like a guarantee, given to us by the Holy Spirit as a down payment of what is to come. Because of this hope, we should live our lives in a way that pleases God, knowing that we will all be held accountable for our actions.

The apostle also talks about the reconciliation we have with God through Jesus. He explains that Jesus took on our sins, making it possible for us to be in a right relationship with God. This reconciliation is a gift of God’s grace, offered to everyone, and it’s our choice to accept it by believing in Jesus. As believers, we become new creations in Christ, leaving behind our old ways and embracing a life of faith and obedience to God in which we help others reconcile with God.
