The Thessalonians endured tremendous persecution. Paul reminded them that God will bring justice. God does not look for revenge like we do, but instead He will one day make all things right. In culture where evil persists, people long for an end to their suffering.
N.T. Wright describes it this way: “God is the living and loving Creator who must either judge the world or stand accused of injustice, of letting wickedness triumph.”
