Recently on The Post-Christian Podcast, I spoke with Amy Anderson from The Unstuck Group about their continued mission to help churches thrive, even amid unexpected changes. Following the sudden loss of Tony Morgan, Amy and the team have continued their vital work serving churches across America.
“2024 was honestly a banner year,” Amy shared. “Our churches started experiencing tremendous growth. We had stories of churches growing by 30-40%, adding services, and launching new locations.”
The Unstuck Group’s process involves three key components:
- Ministry Health Assessment – Teams pause to evaluate strengths, challenges, and opportunities
- Strategic Planning – Churches develop clear vision and actionable plans
- Structure Alignment – Organizations align staffing and structure with ministry priorities
“Ministry is a whirlwind with 52 events every year,” Amy noted. “One of the biggest benefits when we work with churches is leaders pause and think together.” This strategic pause, combined with actionable planning, has helped numerous churches experience breakthrough growth.
For church leaders feeling discouraged, Amy offers this wisdom: “Don’t quit in those valleys. In fact, the worst time to quit is when you’re in a valley. If you’re going to quit, quit at a high point, because then you’re sober-minded with it.”
She emphasizes the importance of balancing performance and health: “To stay in ministry long-term, we have to be both high-performing and healthy. We can lean too much towards results or too much towards health – both have downsides.”
The Unstuck Group continues to offer valuable resources including:
- The Unstuck Church (book)
- Multi-site toolkit
- Quarterly church reports
- Leadership cohorts
“Our mission is to help churches get and stay unstuck,” Amy shared. “Our deep prayer is just to continue this ministry.”
