Here’s what you need to do today.
Do not think about the future today. Do not dwell on anything in your mind that is troubling you. You can come back to that on another day, but not today.
Instead today, you are going to take every thought captive and meditate on God’s love for you!
That means every time you think about your future, you surrender that thought and your future over to God and then get back to focusing on God’s love for you.
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
You are going to rest in Him today.
You are going to abide in Him today.
You are going to delight in Him today.
Take Thoughts Captive
That means you are going to replace any worry or anxious thought with gratitude.
Think about those moments in your life when God was there for you. When He surprised you. Think about the ways He has blessed you.
Print out some verses that you can read when your mind wanders towards decisions and people and anything that leads you towards feeling overwhelmed.
That’s your goal all day.
Delight yourself in God.
Renew your mind.
Die to self so that you can truly live!
Serving those with whom you work or your roommates or your family can help you to shift your thinking away from your worries about the future. When we lose our lives serving, that’s when we find our lives!
Genuinely stop thinking about your future or what to decide or what will happen to who if you decide. Take all those thoughts captive.
Meditate on the love of God for you!
These verses can help! Perhaps print them out or read through them throughout the day.
Or just meditate on one of these verses all day. Memorize it. Believe it.
Let God’s love for you soak your mind and heart so thoroughly that you let His love overwhelm you!
